Estate Sales
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Estate Sale and who needs one?
Simply put, it is the liquidation of someone’s possessions considered their personal property. Anyone needing to liquidate a deceased loved one’s household, looking to downsize or planning to relocate might benefit from an estate sale.

Is there a consultation fee?
No. Your consultation and walk through are free! In fact, there are no upfront fees. All fees will be collected from the proceeds of the sale. We are paid through a commission rate on sales made which will be set in advance at your contract signing.

How far in advance do I need to book my sale?
We typically need 3 weeks in advance to allow for pricing, staging and advertising. However we can book out further in advance up to 6 months.

Do I need to do anything before contacting you?
There is no need to do anything; in fact, please do not toss any items until we have looked at them. It is possible that items that you perceive as without value may indeed be of value to some buyers. Of course, you may certainly remove any items that you do not wish to sell prior to us conducting the walk through.
What services are provided by Circa 36 Estate Sales?
We will categorize, stage, clean and price items. We will also advertise the sale with paid ads, web postings and emails to subscribers along with our outdoor signage. After the sale, according to your wishes, Circa 36 will pack up any remaining items, arrange for their donation to charity, or contact a removal service on your behalf. We will also provide for a light cleaning which includes sweeping, vacuuming and wiping counters down upon completion of the sale.

How are prices determined?
Circa 36 selects prices through our experience and pricing resources as well as the knowledge base of our expert consultants. We take into account items’ age, condition and competitively price at current, local market amounts. After all, the goal is to sell your items, bringing in as much for you as possible!

How long does the estate sale last?
Sales are usually held for 2 days, Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Pricing is firm on the first day, and on Saturday, prices are gradually discounted to allow for a quick sale of remaining items. Additional days may be added or the pricing schedule may be adjusted depending on the number of items to sell. Any possible changes to the schedule will be discussed with you and agreed upon before implementation.
